Facilities
At South Tyneside College we’ve got a host of
services and facilities to help make studying
and your time at the college even easier and better.

Libraries
With over 40,000 items of stock including books,
visual and audio items, you have a huge assortment
of resources at your fingertips! We have periodicals
and newspapers available to use in the library,
along with DVDs and CD Roms, internet access and
photocopying facilities.

Learning Resource
Centre
Want to carry out research over the internet or
complete essays in a peaceful setting? Our Learning
Resource Centre is equipped with PCs, all with
internet access.

Engineering
We offer a range of courses in engineering at
different levels. Whatever you choose, you’ll
learn in our well-equipped training facilities.
Our laboratories and workshops provide an ideal
setting to experience hands-on engineering; so
you’ll leave College with the practical skills
employers want. The courses are taught by a multi-disciplined
team who bring together the theory of engineering
with practical expertise.

IT Facilities
We have fantastic IT facilities throughout
the College, with dedicated suites containing
current software and internet access for all students.
Our Learning Resource Centre, also equipped with
PC’s, provides the perfect setting to complete
your work in outside of class.

Information and
Communication Technology
The College’s ICT facilities are of the highest
standard. They include the latest specification
computer laboratories and classrooms, plus network
facilities with a comprehensive selection of current
application and development software. Our ICT
facilities undergo annual upgrades to ensure they
meet the growing demands of our students.

How to find us
All centres are served by excellent trunk
roads and motorways. The centres are within easy
reach of the domestic and international airports
of Newcastle and Teesside and Rail services operate
to Newcastle from London and other parts of the
UK. (Check out the printable maps below).
South Tyneside College has two main campuses
in South Shields and Hebburn. There is also a
Marine Safety Training Centre on the banks of
the River Tyne, plus a number of outreach centres
located throughout the Borough. The largest outreach
Centre is St Hilda's, in South Shields' Town Centre.
